Important information for visitors:

UTECH Europe 2021 will start in two weeks’ time and for many of us it will be the first major opportunity to personally meet with business partners again. The organisers have made tremendous efforts to ensure that the three-day trade show and conference can take place in a safe setting. During the trade show, the COVID-19 3G rule (i.e., people who are either vaccinated, have recovered or been tested negatively are admitted) will apply. At the moment, there’s no requirement for facial coverings!

Two Testing Facilities at the MECC: Both facilities at MECC offer Rapid Antigen test if needed for entering the UTECH Europe show and the PCR test which may be required for travelling. The Rapid Antigen test is free of charge and provides results within 15 minutes. The PCR test has a cost and results are provided within 24 hours. New environmentally friendly and low-emission release agents

ACMOS has been developing and selling aqueous release agents for the polyurethane processing industry for decades and has established itself as a technology leader worldwide.

Aqueous release agents significantly reduce the CO2 balance compared to solvent-based formulations. Dispensing with solvents as a carrier medium already means an improvement in the carbon footprint. In addition, there is the avoidance of VOC emissions during application and the formation of greenhouse gases through their downstream combustion. ACMOS has been concentrating on continuous development work and the associated marketing strategies for years.

Many conventional, aqueous release agents still contain chemical substances and compounds that are classified as critical according to current legal regulations and industry-specific guidelines (CLP, REACH, GADSL etc.). In particular, substances that are hazardous to health and the environment are to be mentioned.

ACMOS succeeds in eliminating substances that are harmful to health and the environment from many release agent formulations while still meeting the highest performance requirements. The latest generation of water-based ACMOS release agents can be used, for example, to produce large, sound-absorbing PUR foam parts with dry surfaces for the automotive industry.

Transportation: New lightweight and efficient solutions

Sustainability and alternative powertrains are the dominating trends in the automotive industry. BASF’s PU solutions are saving resources, are lightweight and energy efficient. A thermal conductive polyurethane for high-voltage batteries is contributing to heat management in the eMobility sector. For a comfortable and safe car ride, our cavity filling solutions are optimizing the NVH performance inside the vehicle. Besides various solutions for the car interior we are showcasing a cooperation with Grupo Antolin: a sustainable and lightweight PU headliner system and a lightweight structural bracket for panorama roofs.

Construction: biobased materials for highly efficient insulation

When it comes to efficient insulation, there is no room for compromises. Our PU rigid foam systems for sandwich panels Elastopor and Elastopir based on renewable raw materials are of the same high quality as conventionally manufactured products. In addition, a substantial reduction of CO2 emissions can be achieved by taking advantage of the BASF Biomass Balance approach, in which fossil resources can be replaced by up to 100% renewable raw materials. We made a further step in the development of our spray foam portfolio with Elastopray LWP including recycled content. Climate protection at its best without compromising on quality and efficiency.

Bedding industry: Innovative PU MDI-based systems

CosyPUR and Elastoflex W for mattresses, pillows or toppers produced in discontinuous block technology. The discontinuous block technology opens opportunities for companies to produce their own tailor-made blocks with lower investments. BASF supports them by delivering ready-to use formulations under the one ISO concept. One Iso fits all technologies, be it flexible, viscoelastic or super soft. Thanks to this solution, material handling complexity is reduced, production optimized and cleaning pipes and machines is made easier. Different block performance can be obtained with every shot which helps boosting the customer’s product portfolio. Biomass Balance and ChemCycling™ technologies will contribute to reduce the carbon footprint.

Appliance Industry: Elastocool iQ – ready for the new energy label

With Elastocool iQ BASF offers more efficient, tailor-made solutions for the appliances industry to meet specific customer needs and its particularly cost sensitive goals. The new Elastocool iQ generation has an innovative processing approach which enables a three-component dosing instead of the conventional two-component technology. In addition, the well-established Elastocool F is enhanced by an additional, individually selectable third component to improve selected properties such as an adjustable lambda, higher flexibility in production and better cost control, e.g. by customized, high performance HFO systems.

Chemical recycling of mattresses

Around 30 million mattresses end up in European landfills every year. At the same time, the production of new flexible foam mattresses consumes valuable raw materials. BASF is further improving a new chemical recycling process of mattresses to achieve the maximum possible circularity. BASF is now testing it on an even larger scale.

Basic and intermediate products

In addition to PU systems for various industrial sectors, BASF is showing a broad portfolio of basic and intermediate products, including amine-based polyurethane catalysts under the Lupragen brand and PolyTHF, which serves as a chemical building block for thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU), among other things. Following the motto “Added Value”, the latest Bomix product generations will be presented in Maastricht. Despite traditional quality, there is no question of standard and boredom. Visitors can expect special highlights such as highly flexible 1K coating systems with trendsetting resistances, flame retardant-supporting release agents, as well as industry oriented Top Coatings and In-Mould-Coatings, which contribute to the containment of future pandemics through their antibacterial and antiviral effects.

With a mainly water-based portfolio, Bomix also offers a wide range of solutions for the highly topical issue of climate protection by reducing emissions and offering products with a low CO2 footprint. In accordance with this topic, Dr. Schürmann, Head of R&D – Release Agents, will give a speech on “Saving CO2 – impact of release agents for moulded flexible foam on the fight against climate change” on November 18th 2021.

High-performance release agents based on “green chemistry” form the core of the range. The water-based product ranges in particular have proven themselves in the polyurethane industry through first-class quality and ensure high process reliability, easy handling and clean demoulding. Effects such as ultra matt surfaces as well as excellent optics and haptics can also be achieved without specially pre-treated mould surfaces or the use of an In-Mould-Coating. There are virtually no limits to the tailor-made Bomix Release Agents. In addition to standard applications in integral component production, the release agents are also suitable, for example, for the production of safety shoes, instrument panels, bus parts, various acoustic components (e.g. engine covers) and cable foaming. The company is particularly proud of its water-based steering wheel release agent, which allows for subsequent bonding without cleaning and which has received the innovation price 2019 from the Fachverband Schaumkunststoffe und Polyurethane e.V. (FSK).

High flexibility, unique scratch resistance and intensive colouring are just some of the possibilities offered by the new series of Bomix Coating and Bomix In-Mould-Coating systems. The expansion of the portfolio of functional coatings with a focus on “sanitizing surfaces” as well as biocompatible surfaces covers the current needs in the market. In addition, innovations in the area of flame retardancy and conductivity offer interesting possibilities for demanding applications. Covestro will showcase a range of innovative polyurethane casting resin solutions for the elastomer industry.
Often, cast polyurethanes replace materials in traditionally manufactured components, making their overall application more efficient. However, material innovations from Covestro aim to further improve mechanical, chemical or physical properties. In this context, the company has developed new PU casting formulations to increase application life or environmental resistance:
• Highly wear-resistant cast PU elastomers that challenge the previous use of rubber in mining applications

Baulé® quikmix: the practical hand caster
In hand casting, small deviations in mixing and degassing of the most demanding systems can lead to failure. To avoid this problem and simplify the processing of challenging systems, Covestro has developed a planetary mixer with unique features. This unit can be used to perfectly process all types of cast PU formulations.


Sustainable contribution for offshore wind applications
Offshore energy generators need materials that are strong and durable. To this end, Covestro offers this industry materials that extend the life of equipment installed in wind farms by protecting turbines, submarine cables and more. On the other hand, these companies are also looking for ways to reduce their environmental footprint. To this end, Covestro has developed a Desmodur® PU system made from a material with CO₂ technology: It helps reduce the use of fossil raw materials and outperforms the previous material solution overall in its mechanical properties.

Introducing the circular economy into mining applications
In the mining industry, the need for solutions to reduce overall costs and increase efficiency in terms of performance and durability is critical. In addition, the industry is seeking insights to improve its waste management and reduce its environmental impact. To this end, Covestro offers a high-performance solution that allows waste to be reintegrated into the production process. Overall, this solution helps reduce the end-of-life costs of parts while maintaining their technical performance. In combination with the use of components made from CO₂-free materials or bio-based raw materials, these solutions have an even more positive impact on the carbon footprint.

Mass balance approach with alternative raw materials
Mass balance is a chain-of-custody method that mixes fossil and alternative raw materials in production, but treats them separately in accounting. It enables the allocation of alternative raw materials to selected end products. The mass-balancing approach introduces alternative raw materials into the value chain while taking advantage of the existing chemical infrastructure’s high efficiency and economies of scale, accelerating the industry’s transition to a circular economy for plastics.
Mass-balanced products from Covestro with allocated alternative content have a significantly lower CO₂ footprint compared to fossil-based alternatives, but show the same good quality and properties. For MDI raw materials, Covestro already relies on mass-balanced products. As part of its comprehensive program to drive the transition to a circular economy, the company is gradually shifting its system offering to alternative raw material sources, including renewables.


Digital solutions to facilitate the work of polyurethane casting resin processors
Covestro has taken the next step in digitizing customer support. Digital solutions make life easier for injection molders today in many ways. A casting companion in your smartphone
To help its customers, Covestro has developed an app that supports every operator on the customer’s shop floor when working with hot cast polyurethane moulded parts. The Easy Casting app is available via the Android platform. It guides each operator through the entire manual casting process. This daily casting companion allows recipes to be created and saved, automatically calculates the weight of each component, and supports the operator through every step of the process by providing practical instructions, such as reminders about temperature control or the mixing order of components, needed to produce better castings.


How Covestro digitized recipe development
To gain new insights for R&D, technical service and customer experience, Covestro has developed a set of digital tools that create digital recipe maps by leveraging the power of the design of experiments method. This method has been used to gain insight into the polyurethane casting process and recipe optimization, and was first applied to a Desmodur MTX6076-based polyurethane cast elastomer system. By simply dragging a cursor, the Easy System Tool allows users to change processing and formulation factors and view the effects on the resulting properties of the polyurethane cast elastomer.

A total of three new mixhead series and a more optimized line-up in injector technology provide Hennecke’s customers with optimal solutions for every application. At this year’s UTECH, the polyurethane specialist from the German Rhineland is putting the spotlight on its new smart MT-A mixhead series. Application experts for virtually every PU application area will help prospective buyers to identify the right model for all conceivable and inconceivable product ideas.

The launch of the MT-A series in 2020 provided yet more proof of Hennecke’s leading position in the high-pressure mixhead sector. The new generation of efficient deflection mixhead with biaxial inclined injectors share the trusted design of the successful MT series, but are made of further enhanced materials and first-class surface coatings which provide for high durability, even under difficult production conditions and when using demanding chemical systems. The option of smart sensor technology offers an additional feature which is a prerequisite for applications associated with topics in Industry 4.0. Since its premiere, the MT-A series has been fully perfected and replaces the MT models in almost all standard applications. The MT-A is included in the stand­ard scope of delivery for Hennecke’s TOPLINE HK, MICROLINE and HIGHLINE metering machines. As the MT-A mixheads are largely compatible with the previous models, customers can take advantage of the numerous benefits offered by the smart reflection mixhead in their production without any additional retrofitting. The well-established MT series continues to be used for a range of special applications as well as for very small and extremely large outputs.

Another new edition to the Hennecke mixhead portfolio is the MT-E series, which was specially developed for the Hennecke ECOPLUS metering machines. The MT-E mixheads offer the perfect balance of simple and functional operability with the high-performance design features of the MT-A series. The foaming process is controlled directly on the mixhead using the intuitive and robust control panel. The suspension of the mixhead is weight balanced at all times, both with horizontal and vertical mounting.

Our injector technology sector has also undergone decisive developments which fulfil the requirements of modern polyurethane systems in terms of metering accuracy, mixing quality and service life of the components, now better than ever before. Even at first glance, the new nomenclature provides for greater clarity within the different model families. This includes for example the FIXJET injectors for largely manual two-component applications and the FLEXJET constant pressure injectors. The latter are available in a spring-loaded version (SL) and – the latest development – in a gas-loaded version (GL) with two configuration levels. The FLEXJET GL SINGLE is designed particularly for automated two-component applications, while the FLEXJET GL has an additional hydraulic activation and effortlessly masters technically demanding tasks for multi-component applications. Appropriate colour pastes from the specialist
ISL colour products are precisely adjusted to the PU systems and the individual process conditions. In the process, customers receive any desired colour shade with excellent colour consistency, according to the known colour systems or to match their own samples. ISL products are used in the automotive, lifestyle and health and coatings industry.


ISOPUR enables laser marking
The pigment pastes of the ISOPUR series are also suitable for applications in which polymers are to be marked by laser. Through careful selection and the appropriate combination of different, high-quality pigments, almost all colour shades can be marked by laser. The different colour shades can be marked either by foaming or carbonization.
ISL has succeeded by using suitable pigment combinations, marking even critical colour shades that do not have an absorption maximum in the wavelength range of the laser.
With this it is possible, on the one hand, to make products ready to laser in the customer’s production by subsequently adding the newly developed paste and, on the other hand, to obtain an exactly matched laserable colour shade directly from ISL.


Portfolio of black pastes
Extensive developments have made it possible for ISL to offer a broad product portfolio of black pastes today. The continuous close cooperation with our partners enables the black pastes to meet the increasingly restrictive requirements, e.g. of the automotive industry with regard to a reduction of the emission values VOC and fogging (VDA278), in combination with suitable polyurethane systems. This allows extensive use in automotive interiors. The portfolio also offers high-colour pastes with particularly low PAH content (PAH-list AfPS-GS-2014-01).

To ensure optimum processability, black pastes with a wide viscosity range are offered in different colour shades and with different pigment contents / colour intensities.

Furthermore, black pastes based on renewable raw materials are also available. In addition, pastes can be developed according to customer-specific requirements. In this way, a particularly high-quality piano lacquer look can be achieved on the component by means of special formulation in close coordination with the customer.


Versatile MOLTOPREN-Pigment pastes
This product range is particularly suitable for colouring polyurethane flexible foams based on polyether and polyester. They are characterized by a wide range of applications, e. g. the colouring of rigid and integral polyurethane foams, UP casting resins, PMMA sheet goods and PU adhesives. The incorporation of the carrier binder into the foam is in slabstock/ flexible foam production crucial. It must not negatively affect the positive properties of the sensitive foam systems. In particular through the targeted selection of the appropriate carrier binder, ISL colour products meet these requirements.


In addition, ISL offers reactive dyes of the MOLTOPREN-S range. They are low viscous and stand out with their high colour brilliance as well as colour strength. Thanks to an optimum integration of the reactive dye via hydroxyl-functional groups into the polyurethane-foam the coloured foams will not bleed, enable reduced streaking and provide good storage stability. In addition to the basic colours red, blue and yellow, mixed colours are also available according to customer requirements. Furthermore, ISL is constantly working on additional basic colours, e.g. like aqua and orange.


RUNACOLOR-WU: Pigment pastes in waterborne PU imitation leather
In addition to many different applications, RUNACOLOR-WU pigment pastes are also suitable for colouring waterborne PU based artificial leathers. In this way, ISL contributes to reducing the need for PVC in these applications. By carefully selecting a wide variety of high-quality pigments, it is possible to reproduce almost any colour. A special feature within the RUNACOLOR-WU range is offered by selected pigment pastes, which can be used to produce translucent materials in appropriately matched formulations. This can be used to display design effects, ambient lighting or functional information signals in the automotive interior.


Customized IMC solutions from ISL
IMC technology can basically be used wherever moulded parts are made of polyurethane. Many of the PU applications require a subsequent coating of the surface of the moulded part, either for optical reasons or as a special protective function against physical or chemical demands. Additional painting is no longer necessary thanks to the surface optimized with ISOTHAN-In-Mould-Coating directly in the mould. They are available in solvent-based or waterborne 1K- or 2-K systems.


In-Mould-Coating for Spray-Skin applications
In-Mould-Coatings stand the test in applications like the PU-Spray-Skin method. Here an aromatic PU-system is sprayed into a pre-tempered mould. Due to the ISL-ISOTHAN-IMC applied to the mould in advance, the surface of the spray skin is already refined and protected during the manufacturing process and a pleasant feel is achieved. Fast colour changes and multicolour PU parts are possible using the spray skin process. The components manufactured in this way are approved for use in Zone 1 and, in addition to reduced weight, offers cost savings through lower process temperatures compared to alternative technologies. At UTECH Europe 2021, LANXESS will be showcasing its most comprehensive ever product portfolio for the polyurethane industry. The wide-ranging portfolio offered by the specialty chemicals company encompasses not only additives like flame retardants, plasticizers, crosslinkers, catalysts and hydrolysis stabilizers but also PU prepolymers for rigid and flexible foams, coatings, elastomers, sealants and adhesives. Recent additions to the LANXESS portfolio include a range of modifiers marketed under the brand name Modulast and specially developed for use in reactive polyurethane systems. At a conference scheduled to be held on November 16 in parallel with the trade fair, employees of the Urethane Systems (URE) business unit will be giving four presentations focusing on sustainable and ecofriendly solutions. The presentations cover the following topics:
• A novel hot-cast / cold-cure system for PU that saves energy and cuts CO2 emissions
• Adiprene Green – A new, bio-based solution for PU elastomers
• Pellart – Water-based adhesive agent systems for surface-treated polyolefins
• Low free urethane prepolymers as the building blocks for high-performance protective coatings

These presentations reflect LANXESS’s understanding of sustainability requirements in the PU industry and concentrate on the use of low free technology, the shift from solvent- to water-based systems, the rising demand for renewable, bio-based raw materials and opportunities for customers to reduce their carbon footprint during the processing stage.
“Adiprene low free technology helps to reduce the level of VOC components in the final prepolymer products. In particular, the content of free diisocyanates is reduced,” says Michael Timm, Head of Marketing & Development at URE. The residual monomer content is less than 0.1% by weight.

A hot-cast / cold-cure system for PU saves energy

With Adiprene Green, LANXESS has developed a range of bio-based prepolymers that benefit from the replacement of fossil polyols with commercially available, bio-based polyols. “Our range of polyether-based MDI systems uses starch-based polyether polyols. These systems are ideal drop-ins for existing, fossil-based polyether prepolymers and systems for producing highly resistant polyurethane elastomers,” says Gerald King, Head of Application Technology EMEA at URE. Depending on the system, the carbon footprint can be anywhere between 20% and 30% lower than that of fossil-based prepolymer systems.

Water-based adhesive agent system for surface-treated polyolefins

With Pellart PR 28 and Pellart PR 29, LANXESS Urethane Systems has developed a range of new adhesive agents for polyolefin-based materials in order to drive the transition toward water-based solutions. These primers act as an adhesive bridge between the substrate and adhesive/coating to ensure a highly durable bond.
In combination with crosslinkers like Trixene Aqua BI 201 (blocked) and Pellart XL 210, these adhesive agents exhibit outstanding physical and chemical properties such as exceptional adhesion on pretreated polyolefin surfaces and to adhesives. They are characterized by their high heat and hydrolysis resistance and high initial strength.

Smart and sustainable flame retardant for foam in construction applications

The increasing global awareness of climate change and energy consumption is expected to lead to heightened interest in rigid polyurethane foam as an insulating material, a development that would also increase the importance of fire safety in these construction applications. A range of different flame retardants is used in rigid polyurethane foams to fulfill these requirements, with one of the most common and effective groups of flame retardants being phosphorus-based – including chlorinated phosphate esters and halogen-free compounds. At UTECH Europe 2021, Dr. Heiko Tebbe, Head of Application Technology EMEA in the LANXESS business unit Polymer Additives (PLA), will be holding a presentation entitled “New Phosphorus-Based Flame Retardants for Rigid Polyurethane Foams.”

In his presentation, which is scheduled to take place on November 17, 2021, he will be talking about Levagard 2000 and Levagard 2100, two new, LANXESS-developed, phosphorus-based flame retardants. The performance of these products in rigid polyurethane foam formulations is demonstrated in a comparison with other common flame retardants. Tebbe will also be highlighting the effectiveness of the new flame retardants in flammability tests and explaining the impact of these products on processing, stability and foam properties. The results show that the new flame retardants can play a vital role in fulfilling requirements regarding rigid polyurethane foams.

LANXESS is offering the industrial sector a broad range of flame retardants, including the phosphorous-based brands Levagard and Disflamoll along with the reactive, bromine-containing product PHT4-Diol. In the construction industry especially, the compounds are vital components of sustainable flame retardant solutions. Especially polymeric and reactive flame-retardant additives meet the current requirements of environmental protection and health, without this resulting in compromises in fire protection characteristics.

Performance improvements as a response to delivery bottlenecks

Raw materials are in short supply, while pandemic-related delivery bottlenecks are affecting supply chains in a whole range of industries. Thanks to Modulast modifiers, however, the use of polyols and isocyanates in the formulations can be reduced in both TPU and CASE applications and, at the same time, physical properties can be improved.

Modulast PUR is a dibenzoate with the highest degree of purity and the lowest hydroxyl content on the market. The modifier ensures exceptional colour in the finished product, is low-odour and offers improved permanence. One key focus of Milliken’s presence will be its Reactint Color Studio, a valuable, web-based resource for PU foam producers and users.

Milliken’s Reactint colorants for polyurethane are reactive polymeric colorants that consist of chromophores that are chemically bound to polyols. This allows the Reactint colorant to react into the polyurethane polymer matrix.

Used in flexible, rigid and CASE polyurethane applications, Reactint colorants help you to deliver the wide colour space and deep shades your customers need to differentiate their products. With just five primary Reactint colours, PU manufacturers worldwide can offer virtually any colour to their customers. This helps brand owners to differentiate their products and to build a strong brand identity.

To this end, Milliken also has developed the previously mentioned Reactint Color Studio. This web application allows you to find a Reactint formulation for any given Pantone number and to match any shade in a photo or from a colour wheel. The result is that it helps users to build their own, custom mattress with the click of a mouse.

Milliken’s Milliguard AOX antioxidant for PU is a fully reactive, polymeric, carbon-centered radical scavenger that protects thermoset polymers from oxidation degradation. Compatible with both polyether and polyester polyols, it is effective at low levels in polyurethane formulations to prevent scorch and in polyol manufacturing to improve stability. This polymeric additive helps producers to meet high environmental and air quality targets by reducing VOCs and FOG emissions. Milliguard AOX also reduces colour formation after the PU is exposed to NOx fumes or UV light, or both.

Milliguard UVX products, meanwhile, are designed to absorb the full spectrum of ultraviolet light, which can damage or degrade products over time. These Milliken additives offer the unique combination of complete non-extraction, and minimal volatile organic compound (VOC) generation, as well as the full-spectrum UV absorption. These absorbers are reactive in nature and do not migrate. Milliguard UVX is widely used in automotive and textile applications where UV stability is an important performance requirement.

The Hamburg-based company Nitroil Performance Chemicals is presenting its broad portfolio of PC CAT® polyurethane catalysts and additives for rigid and flexible foams as well as for CASE applications. Amine catalysts, which have good storage stability in polyols with hydrofluoroolefin blowing agents (HFOs) are presented as new developments. In addition, tin-free metal catalysts are presented, which have a very similar reaction profile to e.g. DBTDL.

In the field of polyurea coatings, Nitroil Performance Chemicals is presenting newly developed high-temperature stable polyurea coatings that can be processed in spray or pouring applications and withstand continuous exposure up to 170 °C without losing performance.

Nordmann has shared a successful partnership with UK-based Notedome for more than 30 years. Together, the two companies will be attending the upcoming UTECH Europe expo to showcase Notedome’s new product NEUTHANE 801 XP, distributed by Nordmann. Notedome is set to present its new NEUTHANE 801 XP product.

Resulting from important advancements in ether-based quasi-prepolymers, Notedome’s NEUTHANE 801 XP represents the next generation of MDI-based PU technology. The new and cutting-edge product offers polyurethane processors an alternative to traditional TDI/MbOCA-based polyurethanes. “NEUTHANE 801 XP was developed to limit the difficulties associated with MDI processing,” explained Shaun Robertson, Business Development Manager at Notedome. “The technology allows processors to produce elastomers that have excellent mechanical and dynamic properties,” added Henning Hermann, Business Manager of Polyurethane Elastomers at Nordmann. NEUTHANE 801 XP works for hardnesses ranging from 60 Shore A to 75 Shore D, is available as a three-component material and can be further optimized with a customized catalyst in order to produce complex moulded parts. Recycled polyols developed and produced by RAMPF Eco Solutions meet the highest quality standards. The made-to-measure systems RECYPOL® (ether and ester polyols based on polyurethane materials), PETOL® (ester polyols based on PET or PSA), and biopolyols (based on renewable raw materials) are used worldwide in a multitude of applications, including in the automotive, aerospace, construction, electrical/electronics, energy technology, filter, household appliance, medical technology, rail, ship, and wood/furniture industries.

Recycled polyols are manufactured by processing post-consumer residues such as used mattresses, furniture, car seats, motorcycle seats, and fitness and leisure items. Industrial waste such as insulation materials is also recycled.
For this, polyurethane is broken down into its basic chemical components and processed in such a way that the recycled polyols are at the very least comparable with polyols otherwise obtained from fossil raw materials – both in terms of quality and technical properties. They can therefore be used directly in the production process for new products.

The company based in Pirmasens, Germany, has also developed chemical processes that enable PET/PSA, other polyesters (PLA, PC, PHB), and renewable or bio-based raw materials such as vegetable oils to be used as feedstock for the manufacture of recycled polyols.
