At K 2025, CANNON Viking will display its new LayDown VariMaster system, a patented and unique solution for continuous slabstock foam block production. The LayDown VariMaster technology allows real-time adjustments to foam grades without interrupting production. Specifically designed for specialty foam grades and formulations such as MDI, viscoelastic, and high-resilient foams, the system allows the ultimate flexibility for customers looking to produce a wide range of foam grades.

The LayDown VariMaster offers on-the-fly adjustment to the output, ensuring a continuous, uninterrupted foam production run. Furthermore, its full-width distribution of the mixed chemical formulation across the pour plate results in excellent block shape and foam cell structure while minimizing undesired foam density variation. The LayDown VariMaster combines the very best features of trough and liquid laydown production, with a new, all-in-one solution to foam pouring with specialty foam grades. Further, its simple design and easy maintenance with minimal spare parts ensure a very durable build and long lifespan.
“After the global success of the CANNON Viking CarDio® Gatebar, which ensures precise and controlled foam expansion using CO2, we adapted this technology to improve chemical foam pouring for non-CO2 foams. This led to the LayDown Master, a cutting-edge technology designed to ensure the even distribution of polyurethane foam across the width of the machine. This soon became one of the most sought-after CANNON Viking slabstock upgrades. Based on customer feedback, we then looked at ways to optimize the technology further, which led to the development of the LayDown VariMaster,” saidRichard Doublet-Stewart, CANNON Viking global sales manager.
The LayDown VariMaster offers many significant advantages, such as full-width foam pouring distribution across the slabstock pourplate, giving excellent foam cell structure and block shape. The system allows for a wide range of real-time, “on-the-fly” changes in foam grade formulation without halting production. Its adjustable distribution outlet can be changed according to the chemical output, viscosity and filler content of the foam formulation, resulting in less downtime for set-up and changeovers, resulting in better yield and a far more efficient slabstock line.
The LayDown VariMaster will be available globally from early 2026 to all continuous slabstock plants, both new and old ones, and can even be adapted to non-CANNON Viking machines. When retrofitted to an existing machine, CANNON Viking can work with the customer to determine the most suitable installation and set-up for the equipment.
